Welcome
Hi there. I’m Alan Tyla, User Experience and Interaction Designer. I specialise in on-line user experience, website design and development, information architecture and other dark arts of the internet. I like to make things work for the end user, not just for stake holders, marketers and project managers often found behind the scenes of most websites. I care about users, because at the end of the day, that’s who we serve and that’s who we are responsible to when it comes to engaging, involving and delivering the best possible experience. Lets face it, without users, none of us would be here…
Initially, my background was in fine art and mechanical engineering (odd combination, I know), but for the last 13 years, I have been involved in website and graphic design, delivering solutions from on-line academic indices through to multi-national e-commerce channels for major blue-chip companies. In the early 2000′s I became an advocate for web standards and usability, slowly progressing into UX, UI and IA. In 2009 I completed my MSc. in User Interface (UI) and Interaction Design (IxD), and have since focused on the most important aspect (to me) of User Experience.
When not trying to find the holy grail of UX, I spend my time advocating good UX as well as being involved in various communities aiming to increase the awareness and importance of UX in every day life.
Out side of the internet, I spend way too much time playing on-line games, taking photos and making music. I’m a bit of an Apple “Fanboy” and have a thing for 80′s Glam/Goth rock.
